The breeding stock is imported from the regions of Burgundy and Brittany (France). The genetic stock is derived from the American and European old heritage breed of chicken and was developed in the early 1960’s to meet the highest standards of the French Label Rouge Free Range program.

*** UPDATE ***

I switched their 125 watt bulb with a 60 watt bulb today to help lower the brooder temps. I also placed a fan in the window on low to help circulate air and bring in some more colder air to help them feather out a little better. As I have to get these birds ready for their semi/outdoor transition, by next week. As my next order of 100 rangers are being shipped Feb 11. So the brooder will need to be available. They will be 28 days old when they are moved. They will still get heat and what not in their pen, as it is still pretty cold at night here, freezing temps at night.

I have to say that when we did raise them, we could process them with much less regret than other chickens. I was so tired of cleaning up behind them, I was happy to see them go to the freezer. They were easier to not get attached to.

**** UPDATE****

They are now 23 days old. They are most of the way feathered out. They have about 6 days left in this area and they are to be moved to their new home, to make room for the next batch. I have been leaving the brooder turned off during the day and only turning it on at night.They are still on 24 hr feed, no signs of any problems. Here is a few shots of them from this afternoon.

Is Jmhatchery the only place to get colored broilers?

Yes, that is where I get mine from.There are other hatcheries around that sell slow growing broilers but they are not what JmHatchery has, I don't think ??​
