Colored Rangers Grow Out Journal/ Video Added pg 11

What I meant was, I've found 2 different brands of starters in my area. One unmedicated ( which I prefer), but with seemingly lower quality ingredients, and one a better quality brand ingredient wise, but medicated. Then 2 broiler feed choices, one with slightly higher protein level (21%) but, again, seemingly lower quality ingredients (animal protein products), and the other, no animal products, but the protein level is lower (20%) than the other brand.
As long as 20% protein is ok, I'll go with it. Thanks for your advice.

***********UPDATE*************

The first batch is now 9 weeks old. I weighed four of them today as the suspense was killing me. 1@4lbs - 2@5lbs - 1@6lbs, Keep in mind that was on a cheapo scale, but I did calibrate it with a 10 lb weight before I weighed them so they should be pretty close numbers. They are growing good. No problems to speak of since last posts. This time I did take some pictures of them next to a 5 gallon waterer so you can judge the size of them. They are right on target with their feed intake. I was thinking they were going to be higher, but after the weigh ins this morning, it explains it all. And that was the biggest I seen the mediums and the smallest I seen, to give an average number.

Last week I also moved the 2nd batch outside into their new home at 4 weeks old. I have them on a move schedule of every 4 weeks as this is when I get my new orders so everything works out excellent. oldest ones get processed, next to the oldest just get fed,the next get moved out side and the new ones start their new life.

Has anybody ordered redbro from Yankee Chicks, Inc/Hall Brothers Hatchery in Connecticut?

I have heard many good things about JM Hatcheries, but living in Maine it seems that ordering from Connecticut would reduce the shipping time and stress.

Thanks,
Tim

EDIT: Sorry, I guess I mixed up who was cross country from whom. Still interested to know if anyone has experience with Yankee Chick.

Do have to worry about the roosters picking on each other?

No not really they have their moments but nothing serious.

You have to watch as many small hatcheries like this have their birds drop shipped from another hatchery. For example the red bros you are ordering from Yankee Chicks may in fact actually be coming from JM's place.

Not saying this is the case but I would keep an eye out. For example look at the postage stamp when they come. If it says they shipped from Connecticut you know they are their birds... if they postage stamp says PA.... you know they came from JM. A good way to know too... is to ask JM if they drop ship chicks for Yankee...

Just a thought....

By the way the birds look great! Processing will be here before you know it.

I've never heard of that hatchery but looked him up. He's a feed store
who sells chicks too.

JM is fine to ship to Maine. I wouldn't worry at all. His shipments to me
here in CT are quick. If he ships on a Monday my local PO calls me at 6AM
on Wednesday.

Yes, when I posted I thought Harp was the one on the east coast and JM was the one on the west coast. I realized my mistake shortly after and made the edit, but left the question out there out of curiosity because I had looked into Yankee last year.
