Wow Don, I'm so glad you posted this method! I think it will be a lot easier and cheaper than what I was doing.
Up to now, I was buying pre-dyed feather boas from Hobby Lobby, and superglue tubes in bulk.
Then, I'd take the chicks and a lighted match and burn off the baby fluff so the chick was naked - just like burning off pin feathers before roasting a chicken.
Next I'd take the chick and, holding by one toe, dip headfirst in a cup of super glue. Then drop into a box of the feathers clipped off the feather boas. The superglue would seal off the burns quite nicely as well as hold the brighly colored feathers on.
Of course, YOUR method seems a lot cheaper than mine. You know how many little tubes of super glue you have to get to fill up a cup enough to dunk in a baby chick??!!?? And the stuff keeps drying too fast and then I'd have to fill up the cup again and again...
