columbian

It's both a gene and a variety name for some breeds. The word Columbian in reference to a breed coloration dates back to the 1893 Columbian Exposition or World's Fair in Chicago, when the Columbian Wyandottes where first exhibited.
The gene has an restrictor effect on black patterning, only allowing to express in certain areas on a chicken's body.
