His comb was once large and beautiful like the rest of his kind........BUT his previous owner cut it off with scissors......

Bless his heart. How could anyone be so mean spirited to do something like cutting off a roosters comb or harming them in any way.. I guess I will never understand the nature of some people.

Exene, the Welsumner and Bonnie, the Rhode Island Red. Photos taken on Easter Sunday. Both hens are 3 years old and both have been struggling with internal laying for the past year...Bonnie just quit laying one day and Exene almost died a year ago from egg yolk periotinitis....but she pulled through. In the past several months her comb has tripled in size and she has started to grow spur bumps- so clearly something is messed up inside. Sadly, Bonnie is now swollen up like a beach ball- but her appetite is still great. Both hens were great layers for about a year and half.
