Comb drooping and black spots on it.

I had two white leghorns i purchased locally several months ago and in the last two weeks they both have drooping combs with black spots on them. Last week one died with no apparent problems except for the comb problem, both were active eating and laying with no problems. The one left appears healthy and active still laying daily, what could it be and could the death of one not be related at all?

Small black spots makes me think of mosquito bites. This is also how fowl pox is spread.

Drooping combs may be the start of the annual moult.

Can you post a picture or two of what you are seeing? Black spots may be peck wounds, but fowl pox could also be the problem. Chickens can have all sorts of things go wrong, but egg binding might be something that your hen could have suffered from. Here are some links to read with pictures of fowl pox:
