Comb issue - newly rescued battery hens

Hell be a good soul. How can anyone sit by and watch her slowly decline. Its a sin and they have no heart.

Thank you for your comments. Yes, I too am so angry that these hens have gone through this. I'm upset because we've lost Pixie but I'm angry and disgusted that they were in such an awful state.

I've rescued hens for a number of years now and they nearly always socialise easily after the first day or so. Not these, they were fighting continually for 2 weeks. In the end I had to create 3 separate coops so I could put the ones who could tolerate each other together.

I heard that they were not fed for two or three days before they were collected for rescue, so they were starving and probably tried to eat each others feathers, which may explain the heightened anxiety levels.

I got some calming stuff to add to their water (called De-Stress - herbal remedy) and also Rescue Remedy for Pets. Anything I could you calm it down.

They are doing ok now but there are a couple who are definitely underdogs and are at the receiving end of low level bullying. They are eating and drinking fine though as I've checked them and the one who is most bullied has the biggest crop at the end of every day (yes it does empty over night).

So thanks again for your supporting comments. I genuinely appreciate it. I always find it hard when we lose one and I fight for each one when they are unwell, but this feels like a total failure losing one so quickly. So your comments are really kind and helpful.

Thank you ❤️
