Now, I have one Barred Rock/Spitzhauben mix (dad spitzhauben, mom barred rock) chick. If I understood correctly, barring on this chick would indicate it is male right? Because this chick seems to have white tips starting on the little black wing feathers (looks like the start of barring)…
Yes, I think that you do understand that correctly.

Did the chick have a light dot on top of the head at hatch? That is also a sign of the barring gene, at least in chicks that are black. (There are some other chick colors where barring does not reliably make an obvious dot.)

Yes there is an obvious light dot on its head! The same dot that my purebred Barred Rocks had as chicks.
