I have a big coop with 6 1 1/2 year old red sex link hens, laying wonderfully, happy birds. I have what I thought were 6 barred rock 5 month olds in a tractor....ONE is a roo. He seems ok, so far. I move them around in the tractor and the RSL I let out about 1 1/2 hours before sundown. They have been looking at each other...when the RSL are free ranging they've said hi through the fence. I keep moving the tractor closer to the run. I plan on moving it right up to it for the last month...is that plenty of time for them to get acquainted? I also may start letting the BR's out too...I've read here that works....if they free range together for about a month too? Then would it be ok to put them right in the coop, at night, so they wake up together. This roo should be very happy? 11 girls? What does everyone think?
