Combining Sussex and Wyandotte personalities?

Hi! Though I grew up with chickens, I've never kept them as an adult. We are thrilled to have Speckled Sussex baby chicks on the way. We had always wanted BLRW (hens) but they were unavailable at first, and reports of their sometimes bossy/aloof personalities gave us pause. So we happily went with Sussex for our family/kids. But now the hatchery has some Blue Laced Red Wyandotte female chicks that will be hatching the same week as our Sussex. Gah. My gut feeling is that the two breeds might not mix well, if one tends to be the top of totem pole and the other - the bottom? Any advice or experience as far as mixing the two? Thank you!

I think they would be ok. But you will have to ask the experts!
Anyone with breeding knowledge?

If they're raised together and basically the same ages you should be fine.
It is tons easier when the personalities start getting accustomed to each other very early on.
Oh, and don't be fooled Speckled Sussex are scrappy little butt heads, sweet but scrappy. :)

Thank you! I'll admit I was definitely not under the impression that Speckled Sussex are scrappy - I can't wait to see their personalities develop. As for the Wyandottes, they sold out while I dawdled and deliberated, so that seems settled. Ah well. :(

Oh no that stinks! Well at least you'll have your little speckles and they'll be more than enough to keep you busy and entertained. ;)
