I have an LF Silkie chick that has an odd feature. He/She looks like they maybe combless. What do you think? I've never seen this.
Thanks in advance.

It's the fuzz, never seen it in that area.Silkies can have really small combs, especially at that age. That’s what it looks like to me.
It is odd, but I did have a rooster who had tiny feathers growing out of his walnut comb. It's the fuzz, never seen it in that area.
Interesting. I'll have to update as it gets older. It is odd, but I did have a rooster who had tiny feathers growing out of his walnut comb.
I don't see it.I had a baby hatch similarly to that... I also thought it was odd as I've never seen that much down in the comb area. I looked it up and found something about that being possible sometimes with pea combs. Perhaps it's one of those odd pea combs or the pea portion of the walnut happened to have that trait for whatever reason (if that is possible)?
This was the article I found that mentioned hairs being possible in the comb area with pea combs. It's mentioned on the first page within the first paragraph on Pleiotrophy. Interesting article for sure!

Bigger then this?My wonderful Silkie Rooster has enough comb to share. Poor guy. It's pitiful as it's the biggest thing about him. He has trouble drinking out of some of the drinkers around here. Too bad there's no comb reduction surgery besides dubbing for this type of comb.
