My guinea pigs are a bit skiddish when they’re in their cage but they’re fine once they’re out of their cage.

BTW, my pig's personalities are; Teazel is very flighty and shy, but once she is picked up she enjoys a cuddle. Timtam is very laid back and calm, but chews every thing. Snowy is a little shy, but seriously enjoys shoulder rubs. Rita is very finicky about being touched, but not exactly shy. And Ruby is very brave and bold, she is not afraid of our dog, and has had to be rescued many times.

With taking them outside, have you tried holding them and slowly putting them down and giving them lots of places to hide?
