Come hatch along with us!!! Last sets of the year! 10-18 to 11-7

WIth shipped eggs I let them rest 12 hours to come to room temp and then set them but do not turn for the first 7 days. I have seen my development rate increase tremendously doing it this way. Serama eggs are very difficult to hatch and 2 of my sets went into lockdown with 10/14 and 11/15. My Catdance Silkies came all the way from Washington State and I had 18/24 go into lockdown. I usually candle right before starting to turn them and I can toss the NF's or Bloodrings and the rest keep developing.
Thanks....OK I am doing that this time(tonite) Sounds good.!!!
My only problem is i cant put them in the turner b/c i wil have the local brahma eggs on their last few days in there too and they have been laying down Afraid ill mess them up.Guess down and hand turned wont hurt.I HOPE!

I always use egg cartons for the shipped eggs. You want to get that air cell back to the top and everything else where it is supposed to be. If you lay them on their sides you are defeating the purpose of not turning.

Oh! I am in. I have 15 very expensive silkie eggs that are set to hatch 11/7! We are just heading into lockdown this weekend. Last time I had temperature problems so I amped up my incubator with a large dial for better temp control, three thermometers instead of one, and one less curious woman who is trying her best not to open the darn thing every chance she gets.

I swear if I were a broody hen I would stand every second and just stare at my eggs in amazement. I'd surely get the stew pot
