Come hatch along with us!!! Last sets of the year! 10-18 to 11-7

----Project Ultra-bator----
Some pics of the test run and project so far

The strip-down. Compressor and coils scrapped.

Top fan installed. Designed to suck air up and over the now removed coils and down the back of the unit. Ill be taking advantage of this now in testing and also in the final configuration.

Lights installed for heat. Testing my wiring. Cut up reflectors to use as mounts

Power off to the heat.

Splicing of the heat sockets to a single plug, in turn plugging into the control unit.

Compressor fan re-purposed for circulation. Mounted at the bottom blowing upwards. Bent the bracket to fit the corner instead of mounting on a flat surface.

Cover plate for the fan and heating chamber. the pan in the back is the old evap drip tray. I removed the foam and placed the tray back for possible future use.

Foam removed

Are you putting a window in the door or did it already have one? How is the temp doing once you have it all turned on? Are you going to install turners or do it manually? Looks like you are nearly ready to go. Oh yeah, is it going to lock?

Marine very impressive. Do you have an estimated cost for your 1000 egg incubator?

LissyB. I'm sorry. It is hard when they don't make it. Of course infertile eggs aren't as sad they just never were.

Nottingham beautiful chicks.

Crissy good thoughts!!!

My hatch is over. I lost 5 in shell. One had internally pipped but never externally. Another neither but appeared fully formed. The other 3 look like they quit around day 17 or 18 still had a lot of yolk and stuff not quite there yet. The one I helped but didn't hatch, hatched himself last night and if he'll eat and drink today he should be ok.

Here is a shot of the brooder. The red heat lamp skews the color. But excited as I got 3 blue EE's out of it. A few feather legged mixes. Have more in the bator a few that I have to switch to the hatcher tonight after a good cleaning.

I have a bantam OEGB girl that I thought had stopped laying due to the shorter days, but it turns out she's sitting on a clutch of eggs. I have no idea how many she's sitting on since her hidden clutch is way under an old building but she's been sitting since Friday (11/2) so I think that means that they should hatch around 11/21 - just before Thanksgiving.
