Come hatch along with us!!! Last sets of the year! 10-18 to 11-7

that would be great except there is only one closet in my whole house and it's packed full of stuff; also no plug in close enough to it. I do have the 'bator wrapped in towels to help, because I happen to live in a drafty old house. I do think I'm going to look for a cardboard box to set it down inside of tho, to help keep more drafts off it. Also realized that it may have been the positioning of the thermometer....
Oh the box sounds good and the towels. you are way ahead of me!
Hope you find the problem and get it fixed as that is so frustrating.!
.

i think mine and all my eggs need to be locked in a safe honestly. kid proof safe... least the eggs they got this time weren't half way incubated. Blah. So when i was bringing everyone in tonight from their evening roaming, of course my jerk black jersey giant roo got in and started some trouble... the bbb tom took care of his shinanigins real fast. So I tossed him back out. (btw he gets no shelter he cant find himself, no heat nothing. he roosts on top of the run at night and big surprise everyone has the sniffles and sneezes but him) Couldnt for the rife of me get my one gold sexlink hen to come in. guess the roos got a friend now lol
The roo and her must be best buds.!!

Oh no WAY your kids again? WOW... Lock the bator in the car..... HAHA .
Can you let them see when you candle so they understand a live thing is in there and will die if they mess with them or are they like 2 or 3.? Too small.
Maybe let them feel like they are THEIR eggs to take care of. PROTECT.Even if at 3. Might be better with them then oncethey reall yunderstnad THEIR egg might become a baby chick.
Well just my 2 cents..

MarineCorps: chicken drama at its bst!
My broody Silkie hopped off her eggs yesterday while I was collecting. I sent the 13 yr old out to check the other broody and make sure Silkie was back on her eggs, then left for work, this morning, same eggs in the egg bowl. Either no one else laid, or the teen didn't check....at 39 degrees out, he BETTER have checked!
Well either the teen did the right thing or forgot the girl had been on them.eitehr way iknow yucouidl cry but thye may be ok anyway. Brinsea has a coolcycle on its bapotrs o now as they feelthe hen gets off sometimes for many hours and so they try and recreate that in their bator. So if you put them back out under her might still be fine
. At 39 out maybe not so fine if she didnt get back on them and thye were out there... so maybe a good thing.
Teens can drive you crazy sometimes though
My granddaughter is 13 and lives here most the time so i know whaat you are feeling. GGRRR. Either they are great or its. .WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?
Then she gets mad and somehow its my fault.GEEZ.

Brook or anyone who has hatched a lot. I am thinking of letting them set `12 hours then in the bator and set 12 more but not turn
. What do you think?
Brook dont you let yours set no turinng for a few days? Think it works better?

Good Luck Roxannemc !!! Hope your hatches do good.Got my fingers crossed for you. All my eggs are my own barnyard mix. Dont think id have the heart to do shipped eggs.

Well it's day 14 so I candled them tonight... seeing movement is not going to happen with these
dark eggs but I do think i'm getting better at it. Out of my 12 there are two that after much
soul searching I removed, then there were another two that were iffy so I left them in just in
case, but really I don't think they will hatch.

the remaining 8 are full of something that is blocking the light so I guess this means they have
chickies in them... only 1 week to go,

I wish I could see movement but I guess I just have to hope and keep going...

storage eggs this time, didnt even make it to the bator... Its a task to keep them from hurting the puppys. Worth a try tho. then again i think shock therepy would help too.

No they arent. I dont think she likes him anymore LOLOL found her last night roosting on the banty pen, so back in she went.
Did have an escapee today.. aracauna rooster. He's in the woods somewhere. Flock makes enough noise should attract him back in the am.
