So here my final count. Out of 5 Araucanas and 10 Marans that went into lockdown Friday evening all 15 hatched!!!






I have to set up a bigger brooder for these guys today. This one is way too small. That's what I get for assuming I would only hatch out 5 or 6 chicks.

10/15 is really good for shipped eggs. 4/6 of the Palomino's is also terrific. The difference in local eggs is amazing isn't it?

10/15 is fantastic. Yeah Mine was pretty good too. although less.
One ne of 7 was a non started
One of 6 died about day 10- 12

One died while zipping. and 4 good hatch healthy
Still over 50% Would have been 70 if the zip guy made it.

Just shows how scrambled the poor shipped eggs get..... shame.Maybe air tight in a water proof package and shipped floating in water LOL

I promised pics the first 3 are the Buff Brahma nest and the last one is the Plymouth Rock nest..keep in mind these are all Bantam hens and chicks I really couldn't be happier.

Brookhavens! Great hatch! And with Auracanas no less, Kudos.

Flapping happy, I am soooo jealous! Saw 3 heads peeking out from my broody yesterday, but had a fence to move and kept me busy till after dark. It dropped to below freezing last night I hope the babies are ok. I think I need to fire up the incubator in case my broody takes off with the hatched chicks and leaves the rest of the eggs. This is only her second hatch, she left 4 Marans pipped last hatch and they didn't make it!!
