Come hatch along with us!!! Last sets of the year! 10-18 to 11-7

I'm really getting excited to see everyones chicks hatching! I still have to wait until Tuesday. I still have 7 eggs and they all look good. I hope they all hatch.

This morning i candled the eggs.Mallard egg is still moving i can see the little beak moving in air cell.but its also turning purple right at air cell.I seen some good veining still one side of egg. So i guess i should wait.My gut feeling tells me this will not make it.

Hi Brooks....

Did you poke the tiny hole? I wonder if it's supposed to change color? hope it makes it.

sorry, my bad. No more of mine hatched but the four that did are growing like weeds.. (we called them the chicken nuggets :).... )

started my sourcing for next hatch now. I'm hoping I can find some that I can drive to pick up instead of ship..

They do grow so quickly. Kind of sad when the baby down turns into feathers. I have had good luck with finding local eggs on Craigslist.

Well i went to polk hole in its shell. After candling i knew it had died.Opened it up to see what was going on.The purple color was the chick up in the air sac.The chick still had a quarter size ball of yolk left. Just wish i knew what was causing them to pip so early. So i have 1 pekin egg left,But out of 15 eggs this is all thats left. The few that mase it this far always died before pipping.Temps steady at 100 humidity went as low as 39 but stayed around 50-55.Anyone have any ideas whats going on wrong with ny hatches. They are my own barn yard mix eggs.

Lockdown for me! I have 5 left, although I am concerned with 2 of them. They are too small, not taking up all of the egg yet, They look about 3-4 days behind the other 3- which look great. But what gets me is that both of them are still moving and are clearly alive. How can they be so far behind the others? I've noticed slight drops in temp, less than a degree, thru the night. not nearly enough to slow them down, but even so, why would something only effect 2 of the 5? Well, hoping for the best, maybe they will just hatch late!

Chrissycriss, I copied this from another thread. I can't vouch for the information, just thought you might find it helpful:

Symptoms Probable Causes Corrective Measures

Many dead embryos at early stages Improper incubation temperatures (usually too high) Follow recommended incubation temperatures.
Improper egg turning Turn at least 3 times daily.
Inherited low hatchability Avoid cross breeding. May need to secure different breeding stock.
Improper ventilation Increase ventilation rate in incubator and/or room, but avoid drafts. Add oxygen at high altitudes.
Pullorum disease or other salmonelloses Use eggs from disease-free sources. Have NPIP representatives blood-test the breeder flock.
Improper nutrition of breeders Provide a well-balanced nutritional diet to breeders.

Well here is 'Uno', the only Serama to hatch for me. I checked the other eggs, but only one other egg was nearly full term, but dead in the shell, but still with yolk and the membrane was intact. but I guess that's just a thing to consider with this breed, they are hard to hatch.
This guy is much smaller then my other Seramas and incredibly cute. I put a fuzzy mouse in there so he has something to cuddle up to. Hopefully in a week or so he will be strong enough to put with the older peeps. Sorry for the blurriness, just got off work and it's a quick cell phone pic.
