Surely not! You would never speak of your mother's goof-ups to other people, would you? I bet you won't tell your kids at school tomorrow either, will you?
Of course I won't tell them tomorrow!! LOL they won't be back until Monday! Tomorrow is PT conferences and Friday is Inservice! She never tells anyone about the silly things I do....
At least not in front of me, she waits until I turn my back!
I would DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND KEEPING THE RACCOON!
Most of them carry rabies and they do not make good pets!
I live in an established residential neighborhood in Jacksonville, FL.
After I found many of my flower beds dug up and plants destroyed, I
decided to get a 'Have a heart' trap and catch the raccoons doing the
destruction, then relocate them far far away. I kept a record of how many I trapped. In 10 months I caught 67!!!!!!!! And they didn't stop coming.....I just got sick and tired of catching them and taking them on a long ride every night after work! Animal control here strongly
advises using gloves even to handle the cage, so the virus doesn't get into your system through a cut or break in the skin. That's how dangerous they are. So please be aware of the danger.

Raccoons CAN make great pets from my own experience. Though I should say temporarily. I raised an orphan raccoon one summer. One of the best animals you could have. Once she got bigger, she started to play rougher and I had to wear gloves. She was a very awesome raccoon and I have a different respect for them. Eventually she grew up, and moved out on her own. It's been about 3 years and I have no idea whether she is alive with a little family of her own or dead. This was way before I even considered getting chickens.
