It's absolutely freezing here in NY, so I brought all 7 of my chickens into the garage. I'm actually in the middle of making either a bachelor pad or a bantam coop, (I had to stop because of the winter) so I actually have a coop in my garage right now. They are living in there, plus I'm using an old baby pen as a run. They don't have a ton of space, but enough for a few days.
My EE cockerel keeps crowing though, which is kind of driving me nuts. Plus my hens keep deciding that they have to scream and yell because somebody thinks that they might have to lay an egg.
Rocky, my 5 year old Australorp, laid an egg this morning (I have no idea why. She hasn't laid in the winter for several years now). My EE is laying an egg right now too, and Mango (my cochin) thinks that now is a good time to start laying eggs. She keeps going into the coop, making a nest, and then laying there for a while, which causes both my boys to go crazy because they always get nervous when any of the girls are laying.
It's a bit chaotic at my house right now, lol.

The scariest thing just happened! My lovebird (who bites hard enough to puncture hands) escaped while the house dogs were out! I was putting her water bowel back in her cage but for some reason she decided to fly out (lovebirds don't normally fly a whole lot.) She landed on the floor and all three dogs instantly lunged at her! One of the dogs was practically on top of her! I pushed them all back and grabbed her. I put her back in her cage and she DIDN'T bite me, which is a first.
