This was purposeful… I’ve tried really hard not to turn the quail into pets. It’s hard, very hard. But I’ve tried really hard to build up walls. I didn’t want the anxiety and pain that comes from loving something on a personal level. I love my quail, but not as pets. I love them as a whole.
I get what you mean. I personally don’t currently own an animal and not have it be a pet, but I certainly understand that many people have it that way. I know if I ever raise larger quantities of poultry, I’ll probably have a couple that are special to me, but the rest, although sad when they die, probably won’t make me cry for hours.
