Common Sense in shipping hatching eggs?

The point of laying eggs on their side is to spread out the pull of gravity. If they are point down then all the force is on the tiny end of the egg which makes it greater than spreading the force over the side of the egg. I told you the arguments are actually for laying eggs on their side. I do sometimes lay cartons on their side in the box. If I pack multiple cartons I'll set one on top of the other, tape them together, and then lay them flat. It really does not make any difference which side is up. The eggs are going to go sideways, upsidedown, on to the corners... you name it.... They are going to be shaken, spun, possibly thrown or kicked.... That box is not going to sit upright and there really is little point in arguing which direction an egg should sit in a box that is not going to stay upright anyway.

I have recieved mulitiple orders of eggs through the mail. My worst hatch rate (3 out of 12) was shipped in an egg carton, pointy side down. The best hatches I've gotten (12 out of 12, 21 out of 24) were shipped with the eggs laying on their sides. So in my opinion it doesn't really make a difference how the eggs are laid when they are shipped. I agree that most poor hatches are due to rough handling and the amount of time it takes to get form seller to buyer. Sitting at the post office over the weekend is the worst.
