computer cursor jumping across screen.

My computer cursor has been jumping all over the screen, dragging and dropping things, and inserting letters into previously typed words. Does anyone know a solution to this?

What sort of a mouse do you have? I have a trackball mouse, and it sometimes does that. I fix it by pulling out the ball, turning the rest of the mouse upside down, and banging it on the table.

Try cleaning it really well. If it is the ball type take it apart and clean the wheels. Turn the computer off and turn your keyboard upside down and shake out all the crumbs. Then clean it.
Sometime just rebooting will correct a glitch like that.

check for battery if wireless and...... clean the mysterious gunk build up that finds it's way to the bottom of the mouse "feet".. I don't know what that stuff is........ if all else fails, revert back to banging it on the table...

So do you have a laptop or a desk computer? I have that happen with my laptop from time to time. If I remember right. I hold the cursor with the touch pad, and click on what page is open. That sometimes stop it. But turning the computer off should work also.

I'm on a laptop trackpad. I've tried turning off the computer multiple times. I'm getting a batery shiped for the computer, I don't know if that would have anything to do with it.

Might have a virus too, certain ones can do it to a mouse or touchpad.

Your laptap trackpad may be going bad. You can get a mouse to use at Wal-Mart for under $10.
