Hi Everyone,
I’m very concerned about what is going on in my flock. I noticed one of our silkies had a crusty eye last week. We removed her from the flock and began cleaning her eye and putting teramycin. Two days later I noticed our leg we sitting very lethargic unwilling to move. After a day of this I also removed her. She went from not moving to having her eyes closed, but still breathing. I brought her to the vet and he said this could potentially be a respiratory thing going around our flock... we got antibiotics and a dewormer as well. I am feeding her with a syringe and the other one with a goopy eye is eating totally fine. So here are my questions:
1) does this sound like respiratory to you? The legbar is not egg bound and the only symptom she has is her energy. The silkie has the goopy eye but is otherwise fine.
2) are we going to start to see other flock members get it?
3) if the birds recover can they go back to the flock? Can we eat their eggs?
4) should our coop area be off limit to our toddler/dogs?
sorry my wheels are turning here after researching respiratory issues in depth!! Thank you in advance for even reading all of this!!
