Confused, my blue Marans hen is crowing!

They all are roosters! I'm so sorry!

They're not ALL roosters. That middle one in the pic of the three of them is definitely a pullet.

Look at the different feathering, the different stances. It's like the boys are both sizing each other up over her!

Total agreement - and Gypsy, that was a great description of the differences between boys and girls.

I bought four pullet bantams (one dominique, one game mix, and one EE) and within a month three were crowing. My EE roo looks just like your two, only mine is chipmunk colored. It'll only be a matter of days til the other one starts crowing. I feel your pain!! It's a hard pill to swallow when you can only have a few chickens and have to keep starting over.

Well, judging by the comb size and color I thought they all look like boys. I'm so very sorry for the mistake.

Aw, don't apologise. It's just a friendly discussion. I love the boy/girl puzzles and I didn't mean to come across like I was shouting you down so I hope you didn't take it that way. The middle one does have a bigger looking comb than the other two, yes, but it's a single comb, and the two boys have pea combs. When they're older, the boys' pea combs will grow quite a bit more, but for now, a single comb, even on a pullet, is going to look bigger...

The one with the single comb looks like it's probably a pullet...is it dark blue or black? She could be a Marans like you were wanting.

Oh my! This is just going from bad to worse! I just got back from work and I see that most of you think that the two blue Marans hens are 2 EE roosters. Nothing like being wrong the whole way around. I guess Camille and Charlotte are now Carl and Charlie. Arghhh!!! Thank you Gypsy07 for the great description. I always just buy hens and have never had to deal with this rooster stuff, so I am pretty clueless. So, are they blue Easter Eggers? Not only are they the wrong sex, now I don't even know what breed they are. This is very frustrating because they were sold to me as blue Marans and I expect that if someone is breeding chickens, they would know what they bred and sell them as such. Gees. No matter, if they crow they have to go. I have already been to court once for my goats and I don't prefer to go again for my chickens. Anybody want two blue roosters of an unknown breed?

The one with a single comb was supposed to be a splash Marans. She has no white on her at all and is kind of a dark blue. Not black, but darker than the other two. She is very pretty and I am pretty sure she is a pullet. But now I don't know what breed she is either. The breeder told me she could be an olive egger, so I guess I will just wait until she lays an egg and if it is brown I will think Marans and if it is olive I will know she is an EEer. So here it is July and I am going to have to start this chicken stuff all over again. Thank you all so much for your help. Now I am going to go cry in the corner for a bit.
