There is so much I could say about this topic. From both sides of the counter. The best thing to do is watch the prices as they are being rung up at the register.

I usually do but the cash registers in this store do not display them where the customer can see them. In fact, the clerk gives the total and it isn't until you've swiped your card and gotten the store copy to sign that you actually see the total. Dick's started in this area and I used to shop in the original store with the original Dick. I can tell you that he would not have let me get out of there without telling me I was entitled to another dozen golf balls. Now that it is a big corporation the sales staff doesn't much care. Example: A year ago I bought a fishing rod, reel and line for my grandson's birthday. Fortunately I've fished all my life-even wrote a book about it--so setting up the system and getting the line on the reel was no problem. The thing is the clerk didn't know that nor did he offer any advice or help. He didn't even attempt to match the reel to the rod. I've had similar experiences from their golf pro in re to buying golf clubs. Again, I knew what I was doing but still.
Went back to Dick's today. They gave me the 3rd doz. golf balls and apologized for the misleading sign--will try to give checkout clerks a head's up when this kind of sale is on so they remind customers they have another item coming. They also corrected the amount on the socks, refunding the $4.50 I had overpaid. Also I exchanged the mislabel shorts for the correct size--only problem being they no longer had the color I wanted. So, other than an extra trip to the store everything is ok.
One problem though. On Monday I got a call from Visa asking if I had made some charges on my card over the weekend. I hadn't and the charges made weren't anything I bought. The last legit charge was last Thursday at Dick's. Interesting in that it is a card I carry and only use for in-store purchases--never over the Internet--so maybe someone has hacked Dick's or Chase Bank's system. At any rate a new card is on the way. A first for me.
BTW in re to the short's size: Had I been my DW, I'd have tried them on before buy to see how they fit and how they looked on me. However, being a male and a hunter rather than a gatherer, I just went by the label and paid for them. None of that sissy stuff.
Just SPEWED the diet coke all over the laptop at the whole "I'll give 20plus bucks for balls but women's clothes cost too much" drivel. At the end of the golf game, I bet she knows where all the clothes are! Ok, that was my rant. I'm done.
Have you ever bought a 3 pack of mens underwear and it didn't fit right? Then you take it back and get an exchange. What do they do with the pair you try on. At Sears you can open the package without tearing it. I wonder if they just roll them back up and put them back in the package.
