Our rooster started breathing heavy and wheezing 4 days ago. He sounds congested. He is also sneezing and when he tries to crow his voice is very low. He has a deep voice but since this began he sounds like mickey mouse, squeaky. We are giving him Oxytetracycline 800mg per gallon of water. We rub VetRx on his nose, under his wings and comb. He is still eating a little and drinking water, but not much as he should be. He is still alert and active.

Here is a 7 second video of his breathing
- he is currently quarantined from the other 14 chickens so we can monitor him.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. We thought about ordering Tylan 50.

They do not have Tylan 50 available anymore at this time, but sometimes you can get Tylosin powder for the water from Jedds online. What symptoms are you seeing? He might just have a virus that will not respond to antibiotics, but would run it’s course over a few weeks. Most respiratory dieases can make the whole flock carriers after recovery. If you could get testing, that would tell you the diagnosis.

He is all better now. It lasted for about 6 days. We didn't think he was going to make it. The Oxytetracycline was mixed into his food with water and fed to him 2 times a day. His comb is now white like it's dried out, could be from the VetRx that was rubbed on it twice a day. He remains isolated from the flock at all times, even before this happened because he gets aggressive with the other rooster. He has his own space/area.
