Now I'm going to bed. Ya'all wore me out today. Either that or I've been staying up too late watching The Wire.

G'night!

Thank you Becky and Bill for hosting!

I had a wonderful time and really enjoyed meeting all of you. I must say that I am quite thankful for the processing tutorial, and I'm really surprised at my reaction to it. PC, you culled the first one so quickly that I think it really helped me just get over the moment and move on. I can't believe I culled as well. I think I'll be able to do this and not pay someone!! self sufficiency on its way!!

Tina (the sweet little shoulder bantam) is sleeping perched on her shoe box in my room. I think it's the best sleep she's ever had. At one point she had the head turned/tucked in her back pose. I got up to go lock everyone else up and she didn't move! Another nice thing is SHE's QUIET for once! She usually never stops making noise. I'm trying to figure out if this special treatment is ultimately detrimental to her relationship with the others. I put her back with the buckeye babies (and RIR bantam, aka "momma") when we got home. She's still accepted and ate and drank with everyone. I just get mommyish when the buckeyes' and RIR's skittish behavior forces her calm self into corners and bumps her out of the food area. Should I be forcing her to stand up for herself since she does have to live with them when they're all outside?

looking forward to the coop building party! and thanks for being such COOL GREAT PEOPLE!

Extra Kudos to Bill for cooking for us and hosting with such a special day tomorrow. Good luck and enjoy your first solid, colored meal when you're done!!

I'm glad you got something out of that. You did a great job at every step, stayed focused,
and stayed true to your convictions. Next time we see each other you will be showing me
things, hopefully the right way to quarter a chicken.

I think my 6 yo may have had something to do with how tired she is! He just loves little things and a chicken that sits on your shoulder is just the thing! I think next year we will have to get some bantam chicks for him. We're going to look for two silkie pullets when we get back from our trip. He had said that he didn't really care if we got any but then he was cuckoo over PC's little flock and changed his mind!

We'll be at the coop party!!

I just found out that the large number of State Troopers we passed on Rt. 384 on our way to the party were there because two bodies were found. Yikes!

Hi Kristin,
Salem Feed and Grain has Silkie pullets from their own birds. They were awfully cute today, but I did restrain myself! $6.5 each and remember we have to get 6 min order. they also have RIR which I think are bantams, the one I got when I got the Japanese is. They also have the bros and sists of "Tina." They are much bigger than she is which has me kind of concerned about her being raised with the buckeye and RIR bantam babies. I think she may get some TLC for awhile.

Actually I just talked to the owner and you don't have to get a min. of 6. And they have older silkies, but they are $50 each, and they are way overpriced. I could always hatch you some, actually UI have some in the 'bator now
