make your chicken coop look like a big dog house, complete with "Rover" over the door. If these folks really aren't very outdoorsy, they just might think there's some "big wild birds" or "turkeys" hanging out by your doghouse

Heck, there's gotta be some advantage to so many people being removed and unaware of their food osurce.

momma-hen,

The dog house is a great idea. Chickens!! what chickens? those are the latest thing in designer dogs. Paris Hilton even has them. Besides who would keep chickens in a dog house, that's CRAZY!!!

Hi all!!
I'm in Moodus/East Haddam. Any idea on how I can find out about town ordinances for chickens? I've tried town hall (email) but have not received a response yet. I guess I should call..but I kind of feel like the ideas presented here---just fly under the radar. I'm thinking of that saying that it's better to ask forgiveness than to ask permission;) Anyway, I love this site, I'm getting so much information! I'm looking forward to meeting many of you at chickenstock ct and for exchanging chicken stories!!

Welcome,

I'm also new to chickens. I live in Shelton, and I checked with the planning & zoning dept. Much to my dismay, in my fair city, 5 acres is now required for any type of livestock. I'm shy 4 acres. Being the rebel I am, am going ahead with my plan of having a flock of two hens. Can't wait to start building the coop.

:) but I have to have a permit for the "lodging they will live in." Can you believe that!!! Of course they're probably going to charge for the permit....so I'm building a Rover dog house too!!
