Took the babies away from the broody mama today. Mama is doing fine and has her own cage/area of the run until I get the banty coop done. First really good look I got of the babies. Three are in the brooder with the others and doing fine. The smallest one, however, was getting picked on by the older hatchlings (the ones that have been in the brooder for a couple of weeks because they hatched out earlier than the other four). So.. I've got the baby in an all-natural "baby sling" at the moment ...
I used to teach kindergarten and I had a netherland dwarf bunny that lived in my classroom during the day and i brought him home to his ladies every night (bonded trio). I had a little fleece pouch that looked like almost like a little cross the chest bag. Every day I would put Winter (the rabbit) in the bag and drive home that way. At least once a week I would stop at the grocery store on my way home with him in there. I would be at the register and he would pop his little head out, sniffing and looking around. The reactions were priceless!
If I stand up, you can't really see the baby in there.. it just looks like my shirt is "peep-peeping". Anyone dare me to walk thru Walmart that way?
Someone would probably just think you had your cell phone in there!! if not though, you might make the 'people of walmart' site (funny stuff if you haven't seen it).
On another topic, doesn't the chick poop poop in there as well as peep peeping??
