Connecticut!

Now that is what I call a high-security nesting box! If Sunny happens to lay a golden egg today she's doing it in the right place! Very nice.

One of my 20 week olds laid 2 beautiful peach-colored bantam sized eggs last weekend in the brooder in the basement. I put one in each of the plastic tub nest boxes (one in the brooder and one in the cage with my 25 week old D'Anver pair.) So far, no more eggs that I've seen. I plan to eventually blow out the first eggs and make ornaments out of them, but how long can I leave them in the nest boxes? The only one that I've seen go in the nest and get excited is my D'Anver roo, Gazpacho. He was rearranging the nest and making it comfy for Amelia Egghart.

Wishing all my CT Peeps a Very Blessed Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year!!!!

This happened just up the road from us. Dragon and I always stop there on our walks to visit with the alpacas. They are such nice people and take excellent care with their animals. They are right next door to the Incarnation Center. I can't believe anyone would want to harm those alpacas. Some were just babies born this past spring. So disturbing. My daughters are very upset and crying. I hope they get caught.

ESSEX, CT (WFSB) - State police are investigating the death of four alpacas found stabbed to death with a cutting instrument inside their pen on a Bushey Hill Road farm.

Police have ruled out that wild animals attacked the animals on the Applesauce Acres Farm during the night.

The dead animals were discovered Friday morning, their pens a bloody mess.

"This is just tearing at the heartstrings because these animals are just so precious, so loving, so friendly," said Peter Loram, who runs a camp next door to the farm.

Lorman said the peaceful animals were a hit with families who would often pull over and stop so their little ones could see the alpacas up close.

There have been a couple of prior incidents on the farm of someone targeting animals, according to police. They have not said the incidents at the farm are connected.

State police had two previous investigations over the past four months in which other alpaca's have been killed.

Those investigations ruled wild animal attacks. An animal autopsy was conducted on one of the dead alpacas in the last case and it appears that it was shot.

Police said they have gathered some information on the current case, but need the public's help.

If anyone has information on the incident they are asked to call the resident state trooper in Essex or troop F in Westbrook.

X2. They won't go broody just because you leave eggs there. When a hen goes broody, you'll know it, and you can just stick some eggs under her then. Happy Holidays!!!!!

Yeah trying to teach them to go broody or lay in a particular spot is tough

I find the more I leave them alone the more they figure things out

Happy Holidays to you too!!!!!
