Connecticut!

Thanks. It did get everyone in the tractor. When they free range I'm out there with them, but I thought the tractor was solid enough. We're re-enforcing the big run and waiting for DEP wildlife people to call us back. They say we may not be able to trap it. I find it hard to believe that the guy in Colorado could legally buy all that amo and assault rifles but I can't put out a havaheart trap!
It is very unlikely that you could catch a coyote in a Hav-a-hart trap. They are very smart and cautous. It knew your dog was not around otherwise it would not have attemped to grab your chickens. Since you have a dog, snares and leghold traps are out of the question.

We stopped at a 4H event in Durham on Friday, and I saw some amazing birds: A pair of blue bantam la fleche chickens! I didn't even know there were blue la fleche! I'm not sure that I'm interested in keeping bantams so now I'm on a quest to find eggs of a large fowl version of these. If anyone has any leads, please let me know. Thanks.

I love Durham, I go there livestock auction once in a while.. Plus I love the Durham Fair they have alot of chickens for show and many other animals. Most of the chickens you see might be for sale just need to talk to breeder and to make a deal. Durham Fair is around late september

Hi CT Peeps! So glad the heat broke, such a gorgeous day today.

The Orange Fireman's Carnival this past weekend was fabulous!
I really love their fireworks displays every year (and how they shut the parking lot lights off to view it better!)

Our beautiful Blue Orp has decided she is better at being broody than at laying eggs.
If I let her hatch a fertile egg, will she stop being broody or go back to wanting to hatch more?

...and if hatching an egg gets the feeling out of her system, does anyone know where I can get either one or two fertile barred rock eggs?
I can't buy a dozen, I really would rather try just one or two. I read about Trader Joe's "fertile eggs" ... but what kind of chickens are in there?

In my experience once they hatch and raise the chicks to about 6 or 7 weeks or so they start laying again and stop being a zombee. My Cochin would go broody in the Spring and again at the end of the Summer and lay a bit between.
wow I am in the same boat with mine -high fives-
Have you tried this before? Does it stop them from being broody and back to being a happy freeranging egglaying hen?

Ya, we've given up on the traps. We've re-enforced and re-engineered everything in case he comes back.
