I've never adopted chickens from a shelter. What would be the process?

10 roosters still need homes; the 48 hours has been extended, but don't know for how long.

so it sounds like they are safe, but still need a home.

We're going to the Woodstock fair on Friday. I've never been excited to look at chickens before!!

Know that animal control in Springfield, MA picks up chickens from various situations (cockfighting rings, zoning violations, etc.) on regular basis and some are rehomed at farms. Mostly only hens. Roosters don't usually have best odds of making out of the AC facility. Get tested (for AI, I'm guessing). I've seen pics of a few that were seized from a zoning violation call. Gorgeous partridge silkie roo and then some other pullets of breed I could not identify. Owner claimed it was $2,000 worth of poulrty (BS), but prob some kind of pure breds. I can find out more if there are people interested in adopting rescue hens. And Petfinder does post them too for local rescues.

I *may* be interested, with a handful of caveats, and I could only take 2 due to coop size.

Currently trying to convince SO to build a second coop/run. CHICKEN ADDICTION IS NO JOKE!

Well, September 1st ~
looking forward to the Autumn that all us New Englanders love.

I went to Lock Stock & Barrel in Bethany! HUGE YAY!!!!
If you haven't been yet, you must check it out.
Bring a request list to them - they want to have what we want and they have the space for everything we could desire! I asked for Organic Feed too. There are going to be horse demonstrations etc in the fenced areas off to the side. So excited for this new store.
I enjoy shopping at Benedicts too, because they're stuffed with stuff & have live animals and my DD likes to mooooo at Morgan. We need to plan a Sept/Fall visit there soon, I like the hay maze they create. It's more like a hay castle!
Do you think the owner lives in that house in front of LS&B?

They will order anything you want need
I bought a flock block trying it out on barnies for rainy day cooped up days
Great hours too open at 8 am
Hope to see some of you at Goshen fair
