Happy November 1st!
Rain for today, yay :p
Time to winterize for our New England weather....

First year with chickens, what does everyone do to winterize? The coop I built (5'x6') this year has ridge and soffit vents so it won't be 100% airtight. I have 1'x2' windows on each gable end. Should I put plexiglass in the windows to block any wind? Four hens at the moment.

Also, I'm in Iceland right now and though it's a bit cold (36*) and slightly breezy in spots, it's been pretty dry. Kind of happy I'm missing any rain you got back home!

We did not get that much in the Naugatuck Valley today. A downpour, some stiff breezes.

I would cover the windows, definitely, As long as you have lot's of vents open.
