Connecticut!

well I jinxed myself by having two roos:( If anyone in CT is interested, I am rehoming my 4.5 month old Wheaten ameracana Roo..Coco is gorgeous, easy to handle, pretty friendly, marek's vac'd.
He's decided to start harrassing my older hens, and I can't risk him hurting one.. My other Roo, is 4x his size and a big 'wussy' who doesn't interfere, however, I don't want to take the chance of coming home to bloodshed..

I'm located in Old Lyme, He is FREE to a GOOD HOME, not to be used for food or fighting..I purchased him from a breeder as a day old, not knowing at the time he was a roo.
If interested you can email me at [email protected]

You can't see in this pic, but he's not real big, and has green legs

Does anyone know where in NW CT I can find bulk wheat for fodder? No one seems to carry it around New Hartford. I've tried TSC, Petals & Paws, Agway.

All I've found is winter rye but I don't think it's going to work well as fodder grown indoors.

I ordered some yesterday online -- $20 for 10 lbs. I think I should be able to get it for less than $1 per lbs though.

Thanks for any help!

Anyone in the north east corner interested in what I believe to be a beautiful silkie roo 16 weeks old. I ended up with 2. Please inbox me.
Thanks

I asked this same question some time ago. No, I don't believe you will find bulk feed wheat in CT. I ended up ordering a 50 lb bag from countryside organics $22 a bag BUT shipping to me (and probably for most of you) is $19.80. So that puts it at about 84 cents a pound. I haven't started to sprout it. Been working off my last bag of oats (not organic). Oats take rather a long time to sprout and probably require more rinsing.

I've also started sprouting their sunflower seeds. I can't let mine free range. Really wish I could because I think the extra physical exercise is good for egg production. My egg production right now is LOW.

Thank you so much for the info!!! That's certainly less expensive than the $2 per lb I bought online!

Well today was our 1st snow! Just enough sprinkling to make it wet all day.
The wind is fierce ~ 2 plexiglass panels up as a windblock, they're staying in today!
Alot different from yesterday's weather!

I know. My new girls saw snow for the first time and didn't know what to think. The big girls who have seen a few winters looked out, seemed disgusted and turned around and back to bed. I think they blame me.
