Connecticut!

Hey everyone. I discovered today that one of my girls has a prolapse. I soaked her behind in a warm bath and she is currently in a large cage in the basement by herself.
What can I do? Has anyone been through this?

Hi everyone for the last two nights in a row I have had my heart broken. A beautiful duck that I hatched has been taken by a raccoon and the night after my black polish with white crest has been taken. I have tried so hard to prevent anything like this from happening but the **** thing somehow got in and took them. So what I am asking is if anyone would be willing to help me humanly catch it and relocate it? I live in Wilton CT. I would also greatly appreciate if anyone can direct me in the right direction to get another Polish chicken as it was my families favorite. Thanks very much for any help I can get.
It only takes a Hav-a-Hart Trap, can of cat food tied down (important... they are smart) into the cage (Zip-Ties and such). Also, put a large rock on top of the cage to weigh it down and keep them from tipping it. It's humane. However, Raccoon's are consider rabies carrying species and I believe in CT, you have can't relocate them but not sure. But you should consult your local Animal Control Agent/Office before you do anything. They will tell you what you need to do to rid the problem.

I took my duck to the vet when she had a prolapse, as there was a soft-shelled egg stuck inside her, and the vet removed that and put a few stitches around the vent.

Thank you. If you don't mind me asking, what did that cost you?
It was expensive - $300.

But it saved her life and I was able to do it that time. I understand that we are not all, always in a position to do that.

azhenhouse had some prolapse problems with her ducks and I believe she mostly treated them herself.

This was a few years ago.

Some have used Preparation H, honey, or other means. The earlier you catch it, the better her chances. Clean it up well, let her swim in a tub of lukewarm water.

Also, keeping her in the dark will help, because it reduces their laying process.

Lost my last guinea tonight, lost 2 on monday night. Fishers are about. Almost caught it with a 20ga, but it dashed away before I could get the hammer pulled back. Fired a warning round off. I didn't get a good look at it, just eye shine. But I did hear it barking/growling at me. A lot of people say they scream. Foxes scream, fishers don't. I knew we had one here two summer ago, it's my fault. My guineas were roosting in a tree because they are stubborn and I couldn't catch them to coop them. After the attack, the last one was traumatized and wouldn't get near anyone or anything. Tonight....RIP Piper. It is still possible he got away, because I found no feathers and my son said he heard him jump on the roof, but I couldn't find him so I am thinking the worst. Game Cam was up, no pics. Sucker must have climbed the back side of the tree. Anyway, traps will be out tomorrow and before Christmas I will rid the land of this scum before it tries to get in the coop. Maybe a nice hat?
