This is a tough part of CT for chicken keeping. I wouldn't be surprised if they have to take a drive once and a while. There is a place here in Ridgefield, but it's so expensive, and I doubt they have the turn over to keep it fresh so I go to Bethel. They might be able to get a local place to special order it for them.

is there any TSCs in the area?

It's so cold today! All my waters were frozen solid, i had to bring them into the house and put them near the woodstove to thaw!

So i talked to TSC and they host events there so i want to set something up in the spring. I don't know wehre the mojority of us are but the TSC i was thinking about is in Lisbon/Griswod, its like 30min away from wehre they host lil rhody. lol, if that helps for refrence. Would anyone like to help me with this?

Hey,

My waterers are bustin my chops too! My quails waterer was frozen solid I had to smack it upside the barn a few times then try to unscrew it. Boy was that a chore. Did I mention I forgot I had a quail egg in my pocket and smashed it all nice and gewy inside my coat pocket??? LOL

I will be more than glad to help you but, that will be a hike. I can try to market for you down here in New Haven County however I'm not sure ppl would do the drive. The closest TSC around me are New Milford and Barkhamsted. I know that is way to far from you but, I must say there is a huge store in Barkhamsted and the parkinglot is huge too! Let me know what I can do to help ya out!!

I just gave my girls an early christmas present of a heated dog bowl. It has a thermostat in it so it's not going on if it doesn't need to. It took them a few hours to get brave enough to try it though. silly girls!

Hey how is that little white hen you bought? I'd love to see pictures of her now that you have owned her awhile and probably spoiled her rotten and cared for her

I have one that has perfect toe's spacing vaulted skull but, his beak is placed a tad off. He is a blue partridge. If you are interested in buying him let me know and I will take some pic's for ya and bring him the Springfield show. He is a CJ exotic and I would only sell him to you. If you don't want him I just assume let him hang out here at the farm

I also think the white Hattrick Silkie may be a boy. If you are not in a hurry I will see how it turns out and keep you in mind.

Keep me posted on your Chickenstock up there in Griswald area, as I said before I'd love to help in anyway and I bet we can get the Mass folks to come too!

I can just picture it in my mind! I put a black rubber bowl out so I could easily break it up and dump it out for refills in the cold. The first day I put it out they did that cocked sideways look as if it were a monster till one brave hen decided to check things out to determine it was safe! lol

Right! and as soon as one tries it they all say, "Look what Rosie is doing" and try it themselves. I gave them pumpkin today and it was the same thing. I thought it would be a nice hot treat on a cold day, but by the time they got done discussing it it was cold.
