Connecticut!

We are lighting candles here in our home tonight and sending prayers to the families affected....one of those is the best friend of one of my family members. She lost a 5 year old today. I pray that America can solve this violence problem.

I am stunned by today's events, maybe because I have subbed at school for the youngsters of my own town and that I have kids in grammer school but I have spent the day crying for those many family members, moms dads, siblings grandparents , that have lost a young child. I pray these kids are young enough to be resilient and not fully understand the loss . . . . and thank you to the teachers who provided the safety measures to save so many many children. U'm sorry for the loss of the teachers, princple and school psycologist. May GOd watch over them all.

Such a sad and preventable tragedy.
My heart goes out to all my fellow CT chicken friends that may have been affected by yesterday's horrible occurrences. We may never really understand "Why?".

I'm not from Connecticut, but I wanted to send a hug from across the country. My heart is breaking for everyone who lost a loved one and/or a precious child in yesterday's events. My prayers go out to you.

Love,
Nikki

My thoughts and prayers also go out to everyone. I live in Sandy Hook and although there is the bustle of media, the mood in the area is indescribable, even miles away where I work.

Blessings to all families. May love and good triumph over whatever drove this to happen. I pray we never have to read about this kind of thing again. Wishing you peace and a life free from all anxieties.

Because our Connecticut thread seems to be frozen, and I fear it's a result of the tragedy at Sandy Hook, I got busy searching some quotations pages (sometimes words will help me to process, and deal with things):
The sorrow for the dead is the only sorrow from which we refuse to be divorced. Every other wound we seek to heal -- every other affliction to forget: but this wound we consider it a duty to keep open -- this affliction we cherish and brood over in solitude.
--Washington Irving

Bereavement is a darkness impenetrable to the imagination of the unbereaved.
--Iris Murdoch

Grief fills the room up of my absent child, lies in his bed, walks up and down with me, puts on his pretty looks, repeats his words.
--William Shakespeare

To love means loving the unlovable. To forgive means pardoning the unpardonable. Faith means believing the unbelievable. Hope means hoping when everything seems hopeless.
--Gilbert K. Chesterton
I find hope in the darkest of days, and focus in the brightest. I do not judge the universe.
--Dalai Lama

We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.
--Martin Luther King, Jr.

A new year is nearly upon us! Anyone want to share chicken related resolutions? I'll start:

Tighten up some of the breezy spots in the coop
Make bucket waterers with poultry nipples
Expand the run
Plant some ornamental grasses to screen the run from neighbors

Ummmm.... Probably learn how to cull a rooster.
