Connecticut!

At this point, 7 of my 9 pullets are laying. half of them are super large eggs, the others are midsized. I looked up the nutritional values of "free range" eggs vs market bought eggs and added that info to my reasoning for charging $3 a dozen. (not to mention, its going to take me a day and a half to get a dozen,..IF all my girls cooperate! lol)

But SunAndDirt, that is a really good idea. :)

I think 3.00dz is reasonable that's what I charge up until 2 months ago I was only charging 2.50,but with the cost of food and housing on top of feeding them alot of natural foods I had no choice.People were telling me 2.50 was cheap compared the grocery stores,I didn't want to raise prices but with costs of every thing rising I had no choice but my customers didn't seem too mind and I sell 6-10dz a week.

Real free range (not just cage free) eggs go for $5-$6 around here. I don't have allot of extras so I just give them to nice neighbors, and as for thank you gifts etc. If I had more chickens I would sell them to cover expenses.

Yes Apdeb and Diadado you guys are right I think they charge different prices depending what part of the state you live in just like gas, I know near me it's always higher than other parts of the state.

Is anyone missing a peahen? One just turned up at Gossetts Nursery in South Salem NY(right on the CT border) this morning and she is roosting on the roof.

So I'm the purchaser of the aforementioned cream leg bars. On size they seem to be younger that my 25 pullets (who are 16-17 weeks) but not by a lot. I've had them for 3 weeks. The 2 cockerels are now getting bold and "feeling their oats" and trying to grab any pullet they can find and the girls don't like it. Is this normal behavior? They are trying to grab them with their beaks to breed them. I'm a horse person and birds are new to me prior to these guys.

I went to a great talk at the livingston ripley center given by stephen blash
He said you have to have seperate runs for pullets and cockerels asap
Free ranging they should be seperate
Only together for breeding
Hope this helps!!!
