Connecticut!

Question...as a new chicken owner I am wondering if anyone would house 1 roo for me in the Clinton area? Also, when you get straight runs of chicks, and zoning says no roosters, what do you do to re-home them? Thanks for the help...

You can sell the roosters, or give them away. Both are options.

If you can't have a roo, why get straight run? Even if you get sexed chicks their is still a chance one will slip by so we are all playing rooster roulette to some degree. Posting here and local meet up groups has worked for me, but the further into the season you get the harder it is to re-home them. Also, it's much easier to re-home a rooster if it is a desirable breed from good stock.

I'm in the same situation. I have two cockerels I can't keep. I really don't want to bring them to the auction. I'm hoping someone will take them too. They are so sweet.

Ok you guys im in oklahoma rehoming my mother!!! A little chicken humor
I always advise you people with rooster laws to buy started birds from an experienced breeder. The next good show that most of us are attending is delmarva april 4th. As always when i can i do keep my show lists and have the congress one at my house in woodbridge
If anyone wants quality sexed chicks i am happy to help annette de bruycker

Hello Group,

A bit of an odd request, I very much want to start a small flock (3 or 4 birds) this spring, for the eggs, fertilizer, and to teach my son about where some of his food comes from. The problem is the wife is not on board and won't let me buy anything until she "sees how it works in real life". If anyone in Southwestern CT (I am in Norwalk) would be willing to give us a coop tour it would be a huge help. Thanks.

I live right around the corner from the TSC in Barkhamsted. Chick Days started today, but they only have ducks at the moment.

I use the TSC in Barkhamsted too. I'll have to stop by to see what they have. I want to add Easter Eggers this year and don't want to be forced to buy six. Petals and Paws in Canton said you can order as many as you need (less than 6) for delivery in May. I may try them instead of TSC.
Unless I can find someone nearby that wants to split some from TCS with me???
