Connecticut!

Hello everyone I have two beautiful French copper morans roosters that I need to find a home for. They are currently 16weeks old. They are free I just want them to find a home.

Hey all-
Anyone got any Guinea keets available in the next little while? I've got a broody hen sitting on eggs that are to hatch on Friday and I'd like to mix them in so the younger the better. Closest to Old Saybrook is best.

I'm also looking for a gray and white Dutch buck. Thank you.

I am looking to get a coop & run made and/ or buy an existing coop/ run. It needs to be large enough for 8 chickens. Anyone local able to build one or have one for sale.

Hi all,

I am a 2nd grade teacher in New Britain, CT. My class just hatched 7 very healthy mallard ducklings. They are sweet and curious. So funny. I planned on giving them to the 4H farm in the area, but as they are going under construction this year, they cannot accommodate our babies. I need a home for these ducks! School is ending a week from Friday, and I'm looking to give them to a good home this weekend! I will include the brooder and an incubator/automatic turner if you wish. Please please please help me out, as my plan for them just fell through and I'm worried about them! Please contact me ASAP. They are completely free to a good home. They were born on June 5th.

If you have a Facebook account, I would recommend posting on the Connecticut poultry swap and chat. :)

Hello Connecticut and especially Bristol residents:

Did anyone read the article about Little Jerry the Rooster in the Bristol Press on 5/21/15?

if no, see link here:

http://www.centralctcommunications.com/bristolpress/article_bfd767e4-ffbd-11e4-bb2f-7bbb3ad60930

the article is about the possibility of banning roosters in Bristol.

I am told there will be a hearing at Bristol town hall on Wed 6/17/15 at 4:30pm to discuss the possibility of banning roosters in Bristol.

Is anyone planning on attending the hearing?

Has anyone gone thru this with their town ordinance office? If yes what was the outcome?

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to say during the meeting to not allow this to happen?

Any information anyone has would be greatly appreciated!

Maria

Hello,
I work in Bristol and live in New Hartford. Honestly, I'm surprised they currently allow roosters in Bristol. I have my first rooster and cannot believe how loud he is. I know he's bothering the neighbors....he's certainly bothering me!
I have a friend who live in Bristol who says she can hear a rooster crowing f
At her house far off in the distance. The noise really carries.
I'm sorry I can't give you any advice on how to convince the city to allow them. I know if one lived next door to me on a tiny piece of land I would not be happy.
We live on 9 acres and are bothering the people living on our street plus ones that live a street over through the woods.

I thought I would give an update on the ducks and geese in Meriden. It's been a month since I last posted on this thread!

Well, bad news. I keep searching "Meriden ducks geese" on my search engine, and I found two things.

First, there is youtube video someone posted. They used many of my pictures, and also some things I and others have posted here (it mentions this forum at the end). It also has videos of the ducks and geese. There is a graphic video of a dead duck (and pictures of others). It is one of the pekins.

If you are curious, here is a link, but I warn you, there are pics of dead birds:

(Tell me if the link doesn't work,)

The other thing I discovered were news articles from 2010. A dead white goose was found at the park with "head trauma" and there was a note next it saying it had been killed on purpose. There was a 2,000 dollar reward for finding the one who killed it, but no one was ever found.

Does anyone have any ideas on what to do? I can't think of anything else. The ducks and geese need to be rescued so urgently.
