Hi Chickensista and all the rest of you Conneticut-ites. I've from RI, hope you don't mind me butting in.

Chickensista, I think it is protein deficiency not calcium that causes chickens to start pecking and eating feathers. I think there are a few threads on BYC that say that. I would try to supplement with a little bit of cat food (I think too much is bad for them.) maybe oats or black sunflowereseeds. Good luck and I hope you don't have to get rid of your buff orp. I have 2 and really like mine.
