I talked to osborndale state park today. He sounded open to a chickenstock but said we'd probably have to apply for a special use permit and pay a $50 fee, plus get insurance (anywhere between $80-125) He asked me to make my request in an e-mail as a first step, which I did. If we do end up having to pay $175 for use of the park, don't know that I'm interested. Believe that the procedure and fees would be the same for any CT state park.

Bagend, perhaps your park in Bethel? Or maybe one of the good feed stores upthread?

when did colchester become un friendly to livestock? probably when all the mcmansions got built up? when i was growing up in salem my family had friends in colchester and they didn't have 3 ac i'm sure of that and they had a rather large coop and probably about 50 hens, we used to trade w/ them eggs for pork and beef. growing up i always thought bozrah and lebanon were chicken country kofkoff and s.new england egg farms are still pretty big out by my house., heck pretty much all of eastern ct was chicken country then. you can still see some of the massive coops still around.

yeah i agree mooshill, almost $200 for a small get together is a little much.

purple, didnt you mention last year youd possibly be open to hosting a meet up?

ill check into putnam and see if theyd be willing to work with us...
i know theres a tractor supply in new milford, dont know if theyd be willing to offer us some space in the back parking lot or something...
i dont know if theres any other feed stores around closer to you?

Plus this part of the state is kinda dead now for chickens. Most of the new BYCers I see are from east of the CT River. I'm just south of Waterbury.

im hoping we can do something newhaven county ish, mostly because im selfish and realy want to be able to go but im limited on time alloted for driving (im epileptic)

Connecticut neighbors! I'm desperately trying to find an adoptive home for my gorgeous, 7 week old Barred Rock/Easter Egger Roo. He has been vaccinated for Marek's and has not lived in the big coop yet (too cold). If anyone is interested, please contact me ASAP!!! Thanks!

Here's a link to photos of him in a recent thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=304312

FYI!
I've been looking for a local place that sells food grade DE, and haven't had any luck.
So today we went to Benedict's in Monroe and they had it!!
Anyway, I figured if I was having trouble finding it other Ct people would too.
