Well at least you know it would be quiet and the rooster will not wake anybody.

I'd love to live in New Hartford!! Or anywhere out there except to find a job out that way is hard. I looked at 37 acres in Canaan, CT but, just couldn't figure out a way to make ends meet. Plus the property was right behind a cemetary......ohh creepy!!

That's ok, CBS. I don't know if I've mentioned it on this board, but my daughter has special needs. She's not autistic, she has Landau Kleffner Syndrome (you can google that). Because of that, we aren't expecting to do a lot of showing. I will be thrilled if she can just attend the 4H meetings and learn a little about chickens and chicken care this year. If we do go to a fair, it would not be to have her show the bird the way you do. She needs too much speech therapy to do that at this point. However, learning about the chickens will give her a "script" to work on and holding the birds will help improve her motor skills. Going to meetings will help her social skills. She's a good kid. She's lots of fun and wants to learn about chickens, so we are excited to help her

MCDonofrio- I spoke with your son at the Derby feed store today. Bought some chick feed and hardware cloth from him.

We ended up not doing the surgery.....we're going to use the non invasive way (soaking) in a special mixture.....much better.

Anyone want two Easter Egger chicks? I had to double my order so that the chicks would arrive safely. Providing that all chicks survive the trip, I will have four extra chicks. Two have already been spokenfor by a fellow BYCer. The other two will be available next week. I'm expecting them to arrive around Aug 25. I can hold them for a few days, too. I am asking $5 each to cover the cost of the chicks and a very small percentage of shipping. Also willing to barter.

Edited to say the chicks are now taken. Errr- WILL be taken when they get here.

Hi Tina, It's Shelly, I contacted you about the Easter Egger chicks. Still planning but It's looking promising.

Don't count me out, I want those chicks, Welsummers too if that falls thru.

Tina,

You got rid of those chicks fast...wow!! I would love to see the baby chicks when you get them.

I'm so glad my son was able to help you out! He is a good kid and he will be going back to college soon, so he won't be there any longer. The owner is a good guy too.

I'll be a the Goshen Fair, I'm not sure if I'm going Sunday or Monday this year yet. They have a poultry barn there that your daughter will like!! Plus a ton of other barns filled with animals!!

Ok guys, I need some help. I need to find homes for my flock. I want to get those easter eggers from Luke1334 (Tina) but hubby says I have to sell the flock first so I can put the chicks in the brooder in the coop (too dusty in house). I hopefully have two being sold tomorrow, so that leaves me 5 left. Red sexlinks, Amberlinks, & 1 Buff Orpington (sweetie pie who likes to go broody).

I do have a feather plucker amoung them so they do have different levels of baldness but I think they will re-grow when not around the plucker. Little over a year old, healthy, just not the breeds I want so just looking to start over. Have never had younger chicks and tried to introduce them into flock and no other place to put little ones until they are bigger.(Have the materials, but hubby won't help/let me build it

bummer) Please let me know if you want to add a good layer to your flock. Thanks Shelly
