I have one Silkie among my flock of 18 birds and she does beautifully in our CT winter weather. She roosts with the rest of the birds and has been a wonderful broody. She did not, however, lay an egg until she was 13 months old (after having raised two chicks).

Try Mypetchicken.com They ship large breed birds in as few as 3, bantams as few as 5.
I got 4 there in the spring. They are hatchery type, not show or "breed" quality, but if you're only looking for pets...
Also, the sex them for you

Good Luck!

I have one Silkie in a flock of 18 as well. Mine is a rooster though. He roosts with his girls and does fine. Here in Eastern CT many of our Agways and TSCs have chicks in the spring with a minimum sale of 6. If you don't mind a drive Salem Feed and Grain always has chicks in the spring.

Hi everyone. Does anyone know of anyone or any events coming up where I might pick up a couple of bantam Cochins? i would really like to add to our flock before winter to keep it cozy in the coop. I've been looking for a few weeks, but nothing yet. Thanks.

I thought that's what you meant. I called and the person on the phone didn't know, I guess I need to pop up there.

I may have a few cochin bantam chicks this week
