Oh geeez I didn't see this till today, sad I know. I live in New Haven County. I drove to Shay's it took me about 2 hrs 10 mins. I sold my Bobbi Porto Part. Silkie Hen, My Welsummer Roo, and my SLW pullet. Then I got to buy my 2 GLW 4 day old chicks, 1 BR, and 1 blk bantie cochin. I also stumbled upon a beautiful Standard blue Cochin pullet (I HOPE) 8 wks old. Had to buy her!! They also had alot of other stuff like I bought a med pet carrier for $15.00 for my broodies. I met soo many great ppl there and wish we had a Chicken Stock closer in CT!! I've never seen any although I've heard ppl have hosted them in the past.

No problem. It wasn't a good day for me to get away anyway, but it sounds like everyone had a great time!

Shay told me they are having one in Bedford, NH but, I just cant do that drive two weekends in a row without help. My DH is working so, I guess I'm outta luck. I was hoping to sell my other Bobbi Porto Hen

Wish more of you CT folks went.

Anyone on the CT forum want to hold a chickenstock let me know. I'd be more than happy to help with the arrangements and organizing!!

You're centrally located, that would be great! Do you have room? I might have the space, but I'm off in "no man's land" as far as chicken people are concerned.

I drove all the way to PA for a chicken stock in the spring and it was a blast.

I do have room however I have very nasty neighbors that call the cops on my DH and I all the time for things!! Whenever the cops show up they basically laugh off the statements but, it got so bad that we actually had to place a lawsuit against them for harrassment and blocking access to our property. You see we are a rear lot and have a driveway that goes between two houses. One of the neighbors is under this immpression they own our driveway even though they have their own on the otherside. The town won't let up fence it off due to zoning and being too close to neighbors. I also live on a state road which means I would not be able to be too close with the fence to the road and where they block us is right up front!! I hate my neighbors and would love to move!! But, that is why I can not hold a chicken stock. I did look into renting a park out but, the rules and reg's are soo extensive and expensive it's not worth it.

I'm sure between now and Spring we can talk someone into hosting one. It was so much fun. The one in PA had a big barn for allot of the set up and food table which was great because it was a little drizzly. Come on someone, STEP UP! We'll all help!

I'm pretty sure someone has a sticky post somewhere here that templates out all the steps to throwing one, so it's not re-inventing the wheel every time.
