Connecticut!

I am new to this site. I have had chickens since 2005 when a white-crested black polish hen stole my heart.
Right now I am looking for silkie hens. Does anyone known where in CT you can buy them? I bought one at a chicken show about 3 years ago and I can't
remember who the seller was! Nor can I remember the show.

to our chicken madness! If you look just a couple of posts before yours, you will see that Shellyb is needing to get rid of a couple of silkies. Also, Beth G breeds beautiful show-quality silkies.

Had I known I would have saved it for you!! I have about 30 babies growing out and will do a cull in Sept or Oct to see who is staying for breed/show and who will be sold. If you do not find anything before then keep me in mind and send me a PM.

Best Wishes,
Beth

That's excellent, Beth! My husband is very interested in your chicken sales.. he keeps asking when I'm going to make money off our chickens! I told him he has to buy me at least 6 acres where we can have a roo first!

Janetta!!! you sent me an email the other day and I deleted it thinking that I would still have the original message on BYC.. but then I realized too late that the message was not on BYC. Anyway- it was great to meet you in person at 4H. Let's get together!

Hi,

I'm new to this site also. Had roosters for several years that free ranged and ate the bugs in the yard. We had them for about 5 years before predators got them. Received another few roos from a girl at work and we let them free range, but they only lasted about 1 wk before predators got them. Getting them sparked an enthusiasm for getting laying hens as opposed to roos, but my husband was not thrilled. For the last month we have been proud owners of 6 pullets..2 Australops, 1 comet, 3 New Hampshire crosses and a pretty tame rooster. We have spent the last 2 days building a predator proof run and no one will be allowed to free range..at least for now. My DH is not as reluctant as he was previously and I am thrilled! But, I must say...chickens can be addictive...oh my! I have gained quite a bit of knowledge over the last several weeks lurking on this site. I live in NW CT. and look froward to learning all I can about chickens.

Welcome!! If you ever need some nice Roosters pls do keep me in mind

Tine, when you buy 400lbs of layer pellets and 100lbs of chic starter, plus 12 bags of shavings a month........trust me chicken sales only help feed the addiction slightly!!
