Wlhen I worked for my DFIL we had a calf climb up a manure pile and get stuck under the barn. Being low man on the toten poll I had to walk the plank we had laid accros the pile to get a halter on her to pull her out. As I turn to make my return trip the plank sank and I went up to mid chest in that wonderful stuff. My FIL said: 'hey Bill, now you know what it means to be in turd but not burried". He thought he was a fanny man.

For an inexpensive one yes hovabators with a turbo fan, and an egg turner are good. Don't forget to get a hydronometer (sp) with a thermomator. Gosh I can't spell this late at night on my cellphone!

I want an incubator for Christmas too!! I don't know which month would be the best to incubate eggs, so they can go to the coop when it kind of warm. What age should they be for that? I've read anywhere from 4-8 wks.
I really want Barnevelders...but not sure if I should start with them. Decisions, Decisions.
