I currently raise rir, bo, and br. And i have lots of room for extra (non-bantam size) roos if you don't mind that i'll determine their "destiny." And i don't mind raising them and feeding them from little.

I'm going back a long way....someone asked about d.e. distributors....both feed stores in Coldspring sell d.e......if that helps at all.

I would really like to find an organic - or at least non-medicated feed in our area. Does anyone have a good source that doesn't charge an arm and a leg?

Hey y'all, I'm on the southwestern outskirts of Cleveland, about a mile & a half south of 105. I have Cream Legbars, Blue-laced Red Wyandottes, Lavender Orpingtons, RIR trio + a Golden Sex Link hen, Black Copper Marans, Coronation Sussex, Mille Fleur Leghorns, a peacock + 3 peahens AND I take care of my boyfriend's many game chickens when he's working (oh & I plan to add a few more breeds to mine shortly). We also have a couple of horses, several ducks running around & LOTS of dogs (coon dogs, hog dogs & yard dogs). Home is affectionately called "The Zoo" lol (mainly just by me)

Hey neighbor, I'm in New Waverly about 35 miles from you. My wife and I have about 4 1/2 acres over here. Wr have orpingtons, new hampshires, buff and light brahmas now. Going to order some ees, wyandottes, australorps, faverolles, dominiques and welsummers next month. Yes they will all come from a hatchrey. I know how some folks feel about the but I'm going for eggs and a pretty yard.

I happen to be fairly familiar with New Waverly...years ago we lived halfway between New Waverly & Willis. Used to love Waverly House. Of all my chickens I have now, they came from the feed store as chicks (hatchery), a woman in Crosby--some as chicks, some older & a few other misc. people. I have on order, due in next week, some Barred Rock, White Rock pullets, Ameraucana, & some Black Australorp. For me & what I'm doing, I don't have a problem with hatchery chicks either. Never have really. I don't ever plan to have show-quality. I'm doing it to try to make a little money selling eggs, chicks &/or older birds, plus just for the enjoyment. I also am getting set up to try my hand at incubator hatching, which if successful, may benefit both myself & my boyfriend with his game chickens. To say we are "animal poor" is a gross understatement lol but BC we love it.
