Yeah, that's more or less what I do too, since the jack-o-lanterns usually have the top cut off already. I set the lid down separately from the pumpkin itself thinking they might like to taste it first. They wouldn't have anything to do with it! Cooked or raw..... I wish they would. It would be a great source of cheap/free food for them.
