Can they recover? I really have no way to seperate her other than bringing her in the house....I looked at buying some Denagard or Tylan, any use in that for symptoms?

You can try the Tylan, the Denagard usually isn't that effective for this stuff. It's really hard to treat & they can lose the sight in their eye from it. I agree with Danz, you need to get this bird away from the others right away or you will have it going through them all. It's been really bad this year, I have had a few birds with it here. One of them I recently processed to keep her from spreading it to my laying flock.

The only place I have to bring her is in a storage tote back in the house, what they where in as chicks. I will bring her in in the morning. I got some tylan ordered just in case, but of course it wont be here till next week :/ why can't this happen at the beginning oft the week?

Cherwill I wish someone would clean my house!! I might be able to get it done before Christmas with luck. I am so far behind it's ridiculous. And since I have some some chicks and two pullets in the house right now it is worse than ever. I would just die if I had company right now.

It's good that Thanksgiving is at my house because it forces me to clean the house, just like having Family Night dinner once a month forces me to clean. Otherwise, who knows ...

If I had chicks in the house, my niece would be thrilled. I'm not sure anyone else would be, though.

Isn't that always how it works, just like we never need to see the doctor until the weekend. I'll keep my fingers crossed for her, hoping it's nothing serious.

Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone! KKB, his son and DIL and I had our Thanksgiving dinner tonight. KKB processed one of our turkeys, he decided to just skin it. I cooked it in the roasting bag with a sliced apple, 1/2 a lemon and some mead poured in the cavity. I rubbed some salt and meat tenderizer on it after I cleaned it out then let it sit while I started getting everything else ready. I will admit this was the first time that I have fixed an entire Thanksgiving dinner by myself. Didn't turn out too bad, but it was late by the time I got everything on the table. It was very good if I do say so myself.
It has been forever since I have had the time to sit and read, let alone respond. We had a lot to do to get ready for our company, and having to get the birds ready for the cold weather. Didn't do a very good job getting the brooder babies settled in. Ended up losing 9 because of the cold weather, I guess they suffocated from huddling to keep warm. I am sick of this cold weather already. We have some birds with the foamy eye problem. I thought it was just from the cold, blowing wind. I have been using the VetRX. They don't really show any signs of being sick. None of our birds have really molted, the one old hen is finally growing her feathers back where the rooster had them pulled out, but no naked birds. Still not getting many eggs, maybe 3 a day, out of 7 that should be laying. That does not include the Zimmerman BOs.
I see where everyone has been busy and getting lots accomplished, some are losing birds and others are hatching new ones. And I believe that everyone is tired of the cold weather and all the extra stress that it brings.
Danz, I saw one more thing that strengthens us as soul sisters, our sons have the same name! To coincidental.

Isn't that bazaar! Remember I said I felt I'd known you my whole life when we met at Gardner. I think it's because we have so very much identically common.
We're not having a Thanksgiving dinner or celebration per say. Today is just another day. Typical day on the farm thing. Saturday we are getting together with one of my sons but we aren't having a typical Thanksgiving dinner. I guess I'll wait until Christmas. I don't care so much about Thanksgiving anyway. We only get to celebrate as a family every couple of years and that is if DH is off work.I could really go for a TG dinner though.

Isn't it amazing how hardy they are when momma hatches them? Always makes me wonder if we coddle them too much...

I was amazing at that little chick who hatched last Friday. Yesterday morning it was out running around when it was only 21 degrees, eating and drinking alongside Mama but not looking the slightest bit cold! I do have them in a very protected pen but even so…I know the broody raised chicks do better at regulating temp than when we raise them in a brooder but still….its amazing that at this age in a brooder it would be at 95, yet here it is running around outside looking comfortable when its only 21!!!

Poor girl! She is probably really submissive. If you have a wire dog crate you could set it up inside your coop for a week or two and make her a "mini flock." Pick a few of your gentlest girls and maybe her friend she roosts with and put them together in the crate so they work out an order (of course keep an eye to be sure no one is being picked on!) and once they have "bonded" as a group you can let them back out. I have done this with shy birds because I don't like having a loner who risks getting picked on by the entire flock. It really has helped new birds transition into the flock for me.

I had a question about one of my newer chickens. She is a silkie/d'uccle cross. We got her on the 16th and since then she had hardly left the coop. She might go out on the landing of the doorway and then fly over to the roost in the run, and then will go back into the coop a minute or so later. She gets feed and watered in there since I did not want her starving and seems to eat and drink fine, and acts good as well. When we first put her with the others one of my older chickens jumped on her back and grabbed her feathers (this was 2 weeks ago)

Could she just be scared of the others? They all roost together at night, but at seperate ends of the roost. Are some chickens just loners? Should I take her out and then close the coop door to see what happens? I have also never heard her make a sound, are they quieter birds?

Bring in the house, Tylan is a better bet for the symptoms you mentioned. If you have vet rx that would help too.

I thought about it some more and posting this, so I went out there and just stuck her on the ground to see what would happen again. The big in charge hen followed her around but never jumped on or even pecked her. Snow (the one pictured) would just lower her head down, but would stand her ground! Twilight (the boss) would just follow her around! Today she joined them at daylight out in the run! She looks so funny scratching the ground with all those feathers on her feet! I wish I knew how old she was, no eggs or anything so I am not sure!

I forgot to comment on this in the other post I just made! I went out and brought her inside today. I figure if anything it will be warm and give her a chance to sleep and rest. I gave her some VetRX. I am not quite sure how to get it down the thoat, so I swapped some on her nose and she got a bit off of the swap in her mouth...her eye is more open today so thats good, but her nose is running not clear.
